Glencoe

Glencoe is a lakefront village in Cook County, Illinois, 19 miles from downtown Chicago. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,849. Glencoe is part of Chicago’s North Shore and one of the wealthiest communities in Illinois. The village is home to the world’s third largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright structures: the Ravine Bluff subdivision contains seven houses, a concrete bridge and three sculptural markers. In the village, the Green Bay Trail allows bicyclists to travel as far south as Wilmette and north past Lake Forest. The downtown village area has several boutique stores, restaurants and coffee shops.

What we love about Glencoe:

Glencoe is the home to the Chicago Botanic Gardens, that has over 385 acres of beauty and nature. From the gorgeous English Gardens to the Japanese Gardens and everything in between, The Botanic Gardens is a diamond in the heart of the North Shore, providing education, exhibits and wonderful seasonal events for children and adults.

Glencoe is the home to Writer’s Theatre, an award winning, professional equity theater. Grab dinner at the popular and locally owned Guildhall restaurant before you see a show!

Glencoe has one of the most beautiful beach fronts on Chicago’s North Shore, gorgeous year round, with water fun in the summer provided by the Glencoe Park District.

The Glencoe Park District offers events for the whole family, from Back-to-School Movie on the Beach night, to fitness classes, to education and sports for all ages.

Fun fact! Scenes from the films Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Sixteen Candles, were filmed in Glencoe.
