Lake Forest

Lake Forest is a city located in Lake county IL, with a population of about 19,367. This beautiful city is 35 miles north of downtown Chicago, and considered a suburb of Chicago. It is one of the most scenic, historical, and architecturally significant suburbs of Chicago. These neighborhoods include estates and homes designed by distinguished architects such as David Adler, Frank Lloyd Wright, Arthur Heun, Jerome Cerny, Henry Ives Cobb and modernist George Fred Keck, among others. Landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Jens Jensen also designed projects in Lake Forest. Market Square, designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw was completed in 1916 as a commercial center for Lake Forest, and remains the focal point of the vibrant village, with upscale shopping and restaurants.

Meg + Katie’s Lake Forest favorites:

Treat yourself to a stay-cation at the historic, and recently renovated Deer Path Inn. Enjoy a luxury hotel stay, an afternoon tea and have a pint at The Bar. Beautiful courtyard garden too!

We could spend hours browsing at Lake Forest Book Store, a community favorite independent bookstore.

All year round, we love the beauty of Forest Park Beach. The 29 acre park includes the large beach and grass areas. Open year round, amenities include sheltered pavilions, a fishing pier, boat launching ramp and storage area, walking paths and a concession stand open during the summer months.
