Northfield

Northfield is a village in Cook County IL, located about 19 miles north of downtown Chicago. The population is approximately 5,751. It is an upscale residential community north of Chicago that belongs to New Trier and Northfield Townships and the greater North Shore. The real estate market in Northfield offers a range of options from charming single-family homes to luxurious estates. The village is known for its spacious lots and well-maintained properties. Northfield boasts numerous parks and recreational areas. The Northfield Park District offers various programs and facilities, including tennis courts, playgrounds, a wonderful outdoor ice rink in the winter, and walking trails.

Northfield is home to Sunset Ridge Elementary School, a 4th-8th grade school, that is the first LEED Platinum Public Elementary School in Illinois. It is a beautiful school and has been consistently rated as one of the top public schools in the State of Illinois.

Meg and Katie’s favorite things to do in Northfield:

Since 1992, Northfield has held a wonderful Rib-fest in Clarkson Park. With food, drinks, great live music and fireworks, it is a favorite event we look forward to every September.

Northfield has some great local restaurants and we love to grab a few tacos at Taco Nano. When our kids were in little league, Stormy’s Tavern was a great place – still is – to take the team after a game for pizza and burgers (and a beer or two for the parents!) Three Tarts Bakery is our go-to when we need a special occasion cake! Delicious & beautiful! A visit to Northfield would be incomplete without a stop at Lori’s Shoes, The Sole of Chicago.
